About the House

Oceanwatch was built in 1880 by the Brown family, who owned all of the property around Fort Sewall, including the island in Little Harbor that still bears their name. For many years, except for a tiny cottage used by the caretaker of the Fort, it was the only structure in the area. Oceanwatch was restored by the present owners in 1996.

A lovely wrap-around porch shades the house from the summer sun and allows you to catch the breezes whatever direction they are blowing. And with ocean to the north, east and south there is almost always a cool breeze somewhere - Oceanwatch has a micro-climate all its own.

Spring is welcomed by over 600 tulip bulbs and many other perennials and flowering shrubs in the professionally landscaped grounds, and an underground sprinkling system keeps them fresh. The land area of the property is almost 14,000 square feet, and contains, in addition to the main house, a beautiful cottage.
