The Observatory
The Observatory is the most unusual feature of Oceanwatch - the entire room is above the main roof beam of the house. It has six triple windows, providing a 360 degree view of the surrounding ocean and harbor, conveying the feeling of being in a lighthouse.
From the Observatory you can watch the sun rise out of the ocean, and also watch it set over the town. The dramatic sunsets are one of the great pleasures of being at Oceanwatch.
Pull-down stairs in the Observatory lead you to the widow's walk, and what may be the most dramatic panoramic views on the East Coast. At left, the view to the north, over Brown's Island and Peaches' Point to the Beverly coast.
